Honoring dear friend and former board member, Gene Summ

Playwrights Project will honor longtime board member and volunteer Gene Summ at the 25th annual Star Awards on Saturday, February 2nd. The Star Awards honors volunteers of San Diego County performing arts organizations, and recognizes the indispensable role that volunteers play in the arts community.
Gene is a graduate of New York University and semi-retired Community Volunteer. Before founding his own marketing business in 1976, he spent many years as Executive Vice President in charge of Licensing for Fruit of the Loom. Gene now divides his time between his marketing company National Brand Licensing, Inc. and tirelessly advocating for the arts. Gene has been a longtime supporter of Playwrights Project, serving the Board of Directors since 2012 and as Board President in 2015-2016. Gene retired from the board in 2018 and Playwrights Project is deeply grateful for his many years of service.

The event will take place at the Irwin M Jacobs Qualcomm Hall in Sorrento Valley and will start with a reception and silent auction. Tickets are $50 and $125 VIP and are available at www.sdartstix.com, or by calling 858-437-9850. Read more about the 2019 Star Awards here.
