Scenes at Home

Provided by Playwrights Project with support from the City of Carlsbad Cultural Arts Office

Calling all Carlsbad residents! Playwrights Project is rolling out instructional videos to guide you to write a play, from the comfort of your own home!

Through a lesson and accompanying materials, families will learn how to write short monologues and scenes based on interviews with loved ones. Playwrights Project Teaching Artist Aleta Barthell will teach interviewing and playwriting techniques, then how to shape their wisdom and memories into original scripts. We encourage you to reach out to seniors in your family or community and gather their stories, and seniors can write their own scripts as well! Share your scripts with us and your scene or monologue could be read and recorded by professional Playwrights Project actors and featured on the City of Carlsbad website! All submissions are due by Friday, June 12 at 11:30 p.m.

More information is available on the City of Carlsbad's website.
