The Best Mistake
Touring to Schools in San Diego County
October 28 - November 14, 2008

The Best Mistake, by Jim Knable, was written specifically for teenagers to promote literacy and demystify learning challenges. This play dramatized the fictional story of a teenager who discovers that her charismatic and accomplished father is unable to read. Originally commissioned by Playwrights Project to engage middle and high school students, The Best Mistake has another deeply appreciatve audience - adults in the literacy community

The performance of "The Best Mistake" was not "glowing": It was other-worldly, transcendental magical...amazing! My regrets were for the people who were not there... The audience was stunned!

~Jose Cruz, Chief Executive Officer, San Diego Council on Literacy

This professional production offers students the opportunity to gain knowledge and appreciation of the arts through experiencing live theatre. The play will not only offer a cultural experience, it will also awaken audiences to the challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

The kids couldn't stop talking about it, because they understood it and could really relate to it. Besides the laughter, some teachers were actually moved to tears.
