Professional Development for Educators

Curriculum for Grades 3-12

Our staff of theatre professionals presents at conferences and leads staff development workshops on the district, state, and national levels. We are guest teachers at the School of Leadership and Education Services, University of San Diego.

Activities support the California Standards for Visual and Performing Arts, Language Arts and Social Studies. Our basic strategies are published by Social Studies School Service as STAGE WRITE: An Introduction to Playwriting for Middle and High School Students.

We work with curriculum for grades 3-12. Each in-service is tailored to the needs and goals of participants, from drama novice to expert.

Workshops focus on…
  • Integrating drama into language arts and social studies curricula
  • Building literacy skills through theatre and movement games, writing exercises, improvisation, script writing and informal script readings
  • Strategies to build trust, elicit complex thinking, promote constructive peer- and self-evaluation, reward risk-taking and channel physical energy
  • Teaching the elements of drama and playwriting
  • Classroom management
  • Handling sensitive subjects
  • Evaluating students’ work
