Plays by Young Writers Our 29th season of winning plays from the 2013 California Young Playwrights Contest March 6-16, 2014 The Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre in the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center at The Old Globe Plays by Young Writers is produced by the Playwrights Project in association with The Old Globe. The intriguing scripts presented in our 29th season of Plays by Young Writers spring from the imaginations of playwrights under age 19, the winners of our California Young Playwrights Contest. Scripts are evaluated in two age groups - winners age 14 and under receive readings, while writers age 15-18 work with Playwrights Project to stage full productions of their scripts. The older playwrights spend months on revision, guided first by writing professionals and later by questions from the artists mounting the plays. Adult audiences are moved by the sophisticated ideas on the minds of teenage writers and students are intrigued by characters grappling with conflicts much like their own.

A Perfect Home By Kirra McColl Age 11, Encinitas Will they change the course of each other's lives?	Program B Directed by Manny Fernandes (Recommended for ages 16+) Full Productions Little Elephant By Isaac Dwyer Age 16, Idyllwild Our strongest binds are the ones we imagine. Nine Hours By Zoe Kamil Age 17, San Francisco What if the last two people on Earth have nothing in common. Staged Readings The Island By Carly Cipriano Age 14, San Diego Will the quirky hermit help rescue shipwrecked sailor? Opposite Togetherness By Siobhan Snider A reclusive old woman meets her opposite... or is he? Program B has langage and themes that may not be suitable for children under the age of 16.
