Announcing the plays & playwrights of the 40th Plays by Young Writers Festival Thank you for attending Lights Up! Playwrights Take the Stage Be the first to find out which student playwrights will have their scripts produced in the 40th Plays by Young Writers Festival in February and March 2025. This informal in-person reception took place at the Salvation Army Kroc Center and featured a brief conversation with the playwrights. We also celebrated the finalists and semi-finalists of the California Young Playwrights Contest and gave an exclusive sneak peak into the winning scripts! Artists Everywhere 2025

Presented by La Jolla Playhouse's 2025 Without Walls Festival. Artists Everywhere tells the stories from formerly incarcerated writers in the community through professionally produced films. Originally written as plays, five scripts were adapted to films by teaching artist and filmmaker Chris Boyd. This "silent-disco" walk-in gallery exhibition features five films - screened simultaneously. Pick up a pair of headphones and watch the films in whatever order you wish! WHEN Thursday, April 24, at 4pm Friday, April 25, at 4pm Saturday, April 26, at 11am and 3pm Sunday, April 27, at 11am and 2:30pm WHERE Atkinson Hall, in the UCSD Qualcomm Institute (3195 Voigt Dr, La Jolla, CA 92093) No reservations required. Films will play on a loop at the times listed above. Playwrights Project is a nonprofit corporation advancing literacy, creativity and communication by empowering individuals to voice their stories through playwriting programs and theatre productions.
